Data Shuttle & Google Sheets?
I need advice!
I'm trying to use Data Shuttle to automate an export to a Google Sheet, then use that Google Sheet to feed a Google Data Studio dashboard (I can't use the Smartsheet d/b because I need to use d/b-level filters, which as far as I can tell aren't yet available with the Smartsheet d/b functionality).
Here's the problem:
- Data Shuttle will only let me export as an excel file or a csv file, not as an actual Google Sheet
- Google Data Studio won't let me use an excel file or csv file from Drive as a data source
- I can't find a way to automate pulling the Smartsheet data into a Google sheet - I tried IMPORTRANGE, which won't work on an excel or csv file, and I tried IMPORTDATA, which theoretically should work from a csv file, but actually throws an error about how I need to add thousands of rows and columns for the import to work
Has anyone found a way to automate getting data out of a Smartsheet into a Google Sheet?
Thank you for any ideas you have!

Hi @Eva Murphy
You are correct, Data Shuttle will export the file as a csv file to your drive. You can manually open that sheet up as a Google Sheet after the export, creating a new file, but there isn't a way to automate this file type.
An alternative option would be to use a third party service, such as Zapier, or build a custom solution with the Smartsheet API.
Cheers,
Genevieve
