Can you send a notification to specific users identified in a sheet?

We are using sheets (grids) for construction projects, and would like to set up an automatic notification to send to people who are identified in the sheet. Is it possible to send a notification based on a specific cell? Thanks!

Yes, for example, you can have the people in a contact column and then reference it in a Workflow with an Alert.

I wrestled with this one as well-my solution was to make sure that the email column was formatted as "contact list", which then allowed me to automate it.
