Is there a way to prevent Free Licensed users from Sorting rows?

I have sheet that uses a system column to create unique ID for each row - wee need to keep this column sorted in the order that is created. However, with over 120 (over 100 are free license) users on the sheet, many use the sort (based on their excel experience) on other various columns. This causes problems when someone else and attempts to find their issue only find it at the bottom , some where in the middle, etc. We have also had reports where auto-notifications are sending them to the wrong because someone sorted the rows between the time the message was sent and when the notified user clicks on the link to "Answer in Smartsheet" - they end at the wrong place.

Have you explored using a Report instead so they can't sort?

We have a hard enough time transitioning off email to Smartsheet for reporting issues that adding a report may cause a revolt😁 Any other suggestions?
