Linking Tasks within a project sheet

Is there a way to link tasks together where one task is dependent on the other, without having to manually enter the Predecessor Number of the first task, and instead populates the number of the Predecessor by linking?

You cannot use links. If you click the edit icon in the predecessor cell, you can select all the preds from drop downs without scrolling through your sheet.

You can link a cell to another sheet or url, but not in the way you were approaching linking by right clicking the cell and selecting the link option from the drop down.
