How can a free user view a document via an automation?

We have documents attached to a sheet and have created automations to alert internal and external members when they are available to view and download. However, they are unable to see the documents attached to the sheet.

They currently have Viewer access to that sheet--does that need to change?

And is there a way to attach or inclue the document as part of the automated alert?

Viewer access is supposed to be enough to view and download attachments.

You can include the attachment as part of the notification, but it's not as straight forward as just checking "include attachments" in the message settings for the automation. For the attachment to be sent, attaching a new file to the row needs to be the trigger for sending the alert. (It's built this way to prevent Smartsheet from having to send every attachment on a row each time an alert is triggered and that box is checked.)
