Automatic Move

Options

One of the ways I use smart sheet is to manage my work load. Once a project is completed, I move it to a completed row to keep record of it. Is there a way to automaticaly move a row once the staus has been change to "completed"?

    Yes.

There are 3 in no particular order:

    1) https://www.smartsheet.com/apps/azuqua

    2) https://www.smartsheet.com/apps/zapier

    3) API - http://smartsheet-platform.github.io/api-docs/#move-row(s)-to-another-sheet

I've tested with Zapier. It worked but didn't keep the Parent Child heirarchy when I moved the row.

A developer here has tested the API and it works, but we've not used in prod.

gonig to try and test Azuqua the next 2 weeks.

    Hi Kevin,

It might be worth editing your Status column as follows:

    "1. Not Started"

    "2. In Progress"

    "3. On Hold"

    "4. Completed"

You can then sort the Status column in ascending order. This will put the completed tasks to the bottom of the list.

Thinking about it, you may want to create an additional Priority column. You would then be able to stack the sort by Priority first, then by Status.

    Hi Tim,

    Thanks for posting and sharing.

    - I tried Zapier without success. I asked Zapier and they reckoned zapier couldn't do this.

    - I also tried Azuqua without success.

    - Any chance you can share any screenshots / code used for the API option?

I dont think i have the skill set required to implement the API option myself but if I can demonstrate to one of our software developers roughly what is required by way of some screenshots or something there is a chance I can get them to implement this.

    Hello,

I am revisiting to see if there is a formula to automate moving a child row to a different parent row.  Like the original poster, I would like to move a child row to the parent row titled "completed" when "complete" is selected in the status column.

    Thank you.

Azuqua developed a solution for me, demonstrated it via screen share add I liked what they did. My employer never adopted the user of smartsheet really though so I never followed through but if recommend contacting azuqua and seek assistance.

    Any update on this?

I could work around it and remove header rows, use azuqua, use API code or manually check status and location of row match. Unfortunately, none of these options are great / viable as they rely on others or on me not having header rows which would degrade the value of the spreadsheet.
