Form response that feeds the next form

Hi all -

We're trying to create a new client setup form that then feeds that new client number (auto-generated in Smartsheet) to the job setup form. There are many instances where we do multiple jobs for a single client, so our new clients will be on one sheet and new jobs will be on another. I have the "New Client" form to redirect to the "New Job" form once the user hits submit, but I can't figure out a way to get the "New Client" number to appear or be linked to the "New Job" sheet/form.

Ex. User gets a new client and fills out the "New Client" form. The client number is auto-generated as NC001 on the sheet. From there, I'm trying to make it so the "New Job" form will have that auto-generated client number either on the form or the sheet itself so we can link the two.

I'm trying to avoid having an incredibly long "New Client" form which is one reason they're separate. Also, we do multiple jobs for the majority of our clients.

I developed something similar for a client recently.

Something like this.

The main sheet that the form populate
A so-called helper column with the URL to the other sheet combined with the URL-Query feature to populate it with the client number
Alert that sends to the submitter including the above form URL
The client number connects the different sheets

Make sense?

Would that work/help?

Thanks so much for the response! I haven't used the URL query before, but I think I get the general concept. In your scenario, the user would fill in the "New Client" form and then wait for the alert and click the URL from that email? So when the "New Client" form is completed, there's not a way to redirect the user to immediately fill out the "New Job" form that would include the unique URL?

Unfortunately, no, but another option that might help. It will not fill in the number (I have an idea to accomplish that as well), but it will group the submissions.

I developed a solution using two forms (or the same form by using conditional logic) that can be used to submit the main information and then the other information on a new row for each submission after the first.
