How to sum up multiple costs in same cell?

Hi, I have created this form where I am able to input multiple items in a same cell. However, I want to sum up the multiple quantity of the same cell. Is there any formula or function I am able to do so? Or is it possible to split the different item to different row but form ID remains the same?

Hi Paul, for example this existing template from Smartsheet. Current template separate each item per row.

What if I want to purchase a few items, and group them in the same row, not separate row. Is there any way I could sum up the estimate cost of multiple items in the same cell using formula or function?

It would require some helper columns to keep everything in the same row. What is the maximum number of items you anticipate being selected in just a single row?

Would consider for 5 items in a single row. I have this auto-generated Form ID column which is also a constraint.

And are the items in a multi-select dropdown or free text type of field?

Ok. Next question... Will they always hit the "Enter" button between entries, or will they sometimes use commas or dashes or slashes or spaces or anything else?

Since it is only up to 5, we can create helper columns to parse out the selections using formulas, but the formulas would have to account for the appropriate delimiter(s). Using multiple different delimiters can pose a real challenge, but if everyone always uses the same delimiters throughout it will really simplify things.
