Conditional copying of rows from one sheet to another
I am building an inspection sheet and form where our operations team will be able to mark pass/fail through a checklist.
If something "fails", I want that specific row in the inspection sheet to be copied over to another project tracking sheet. These two sheets will necessitate different fields.
Upon the specified condition, how do I only have partial rows copied over to my project tracking sheet?

Hi! The Copy Row automation takes all the columns from the initial sheet to the new sheet. I have not seen a way to only have a partial row (select columns) copy over.
In the new sheet, you can have additional columns but all columns from the initial sheet must also be present. If you don't want to see them, you can hide those columns and/or move them all to the right side, but unfortunately, they do need to exist in the new sheet. If you remove them, next time a row is copied from the initial sheet into the new sheet, those columns will be added back in.

Thank you, @Victoria_Indimar.
Is there a way that the fields that are not present in the sheet it's being copied over can have default values assigned? Almost as if a dummy form was being filled out?

Hi @mch_opc
I hope you're well and safe!
You could use cross-sheet formulas combined with either a VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH structure to connect the sheets, and when you update the source sheet, it will reflect on the destination sheet.
Another option would be to use so-called helper sheets. In short, copy the row to a helper sheet and then use my method described previously to get the values you need to another helper sheet and then copy/move the row from that sheet to the main destination sheet.
To connect them row by row, you'd use an Autonumber Column in the Source sheet and add a so-called helper column to manually add the row id on as many rows as you think you need in the Destination sheet.
Would any of those options work/help?
I hope that helps!
Be safe, and have a fantastic week!

Hi Andrée,
I know this thread is a bit old. Do you think you could elaborate more on how to structure this to transfer a partial row from the initial sheet to a destination sheet? Would I set up the Index Match and then manually delete the undesired columns in a helper sheet? I've tried working it out myself, but I'm having a difficult time with it. Any input you could offer would be very much appreciated!
