Conditional lock
Hello,
I am trying to develop a shareable sheet in which some tasks are listed along a row and check boxes are used to indicate a task has been completed.
Would it be possible to lock these checkboxes if its previous one haven't been checked?
In this way a process flow would be enforced.
Perhaps the solution would include an IF statement, but I haven't been able to produce the results that I need.

It is not possible to dynamicl lock cells. You can only lock Rows or Columns and you need to be an administrator to do it.
You could do something with conditional fprmatting using Red Yellow Green colours to colour the cell according to its requirements i.e. Red if they should not dai anything. Yellow if they can do changes and Green when they have done them. You can also create a symbol column and again using Red Yellow green balls and write if function to change colour as required similar to above. The symbol column should be locked once created.

Say, LOCK this_column or this_row if XXX occurs

I agree that there could be a way to lock rows automatically, I reserve judgement on locking columns automatically. One of the main functions of locking columns is to protect your calculations from being changed or deleted and therefore do not at this moment believe that is required.
Locking rows I believe is justifable for a number of reasons, however I would recomment two levels of lock.
Administrative/Design lock as per how it is now that cannot be changed except by an administrator or the owner.
Process lock that can be activated/ deactivated by perhaps conditional formatting.
Another consideration would be a cell/reange lock/unlock that can be applied using Right mouse button on sellected cell or range at editor permision level.

This basically depends upon the ability to lock individual cells, which is a feature we need.

I would also like to be able to lock cells. Specifically to be able to lock Date cells so that they can't move even if other dates or predecessors move. Or so that Durations change instead of dates, or vice versa that dats change instead of durations depending on what I decide to prioritize.

Hi, I think that conditional locking of rows would be a great feature!
I am developing sheet with approval request and I would like to have a situation when if there is no approval for certain step, all activity for this specific topic should be blocked, because I don't want anybody to keep working on it.
Conditional locking could do a great job in my case.

Please add my vote for conditional locking/Unlocking of cells/rows.
I would like to be able to lock tasks from being marked completed before their predecessors are completed.
