I'm relatively new to Smartsheets and this issue came up almost immediately. I don't want underestimate the complexity of adding this feature but I can't imagen how Smartsheet personnel don't push this through themselves.

  • This would solve a lot for our organization! I would love to see this in the near future!

  • Let's go SMARTSHEET. This has wide support and is elementary.

I totally agree! I luv Smartsheet as a whole but they are missing key basic elements like this. Instead work on ….. oooh look I can color a stupid graph a different color..

I see also of posts like this on the forum and understand they can’t work on everything but I have seen key requests such as this go unanswered for years.

Maybe we will get lucky one day.

  • Vote on this. Plus, the Group needs to be retrievable through formulas such as VLOOKUP, INDEX. This way we can automatically assign Group based on certain criteria. ++

  • We frequently use intake forms and allways ask the user to fill in "requested by" so that we may keep them in the work loop.

Problem is, that if I have not manually added them as a preferred contact in the source sheet, the requester will have to write their email EVERY TIME they use the form.

It would be great if the requester only had to enter in their email once, and it would be remembered for future use. Or alternatively allowing admins to add entire groups to the preferred contact list

  • Does anyone know if this has been addressed? I can't seem to do it but wondered if I'd missed a step somewhere. This would make my life so much easier. The only option I seem to have now is to ask my IT team to make an internal distribution list so that I can have one email address that I can tie to one Smartsheet contact. This is annoying though and creates more work on my IT team for something I should be able to manage within the Smartsheet Groups on my own.

Shoot! I didnt realize this was here and just raised the same request! I need this terribly to help with my dynamic views and Workapps functionality. As it stands now I have to use upwards of 50+ a sheet filters and and the same number of separate dynamic views. If the Group could be tagged than I would have one view restricted and controlled by the group in the 'restrict by current user' field. This would've saved me HOURS of work and could save me hours more going forward in maintenance on these view. PLEASE do this!

  • This would be a welcomed improvement! If you were to include the ability to interface with Active Directory, that would make life quite a bit easier when trying to keep track of who gets assigned what task(s), receives which report, etc. And if there is a change in resourcing, you just add or remove the individual from the group. No need to go to all sheets and find to add/remove the individual resource.

To take this a step further, this functionality would probably work great with resource management as well. Especially if you are managing a company-wide portfolio or program.

Frecuently, I create Contact list column with "limit to value list" but always using users who are in groups.

I would like to just write the group name.

    1. I do not want to write name by name every time for each column (Responsable, assistant, revisor 1, revisor 2 etc.)
    2. If someone is no longer in that Group, he is no longer an option to select him.
