Please help - Copy & Pasting from Excel to Smartsheets not working

I am new user on smartsheets at my new job, I am unable to copy & paste from Excel to Smartsheets multiple cells. Copy works in Excel but Paste is grayed out in Smartsheets. This seems to a major problem for years as I read all the community discussions about it back several years. I am on Mac, using google chrome ? I am also wondering if it is only an issue for Mac users? The other users in my office are on PC. Please help anyone.

Shorcut hotkeys do not work as well.

I've not had a problem with it. Can you share some screenshots? What level permission do you have in the sheet? Have you tried pasting to another excel doc to ensure the data is definitely getting copied?

My workaround for this issue (I experience it as well) is to import the Excel Sheet (it's quick & easy) then copy paste from the the new sheet. Would that work?
I can copy-paste one cell at a time (from a Mac) but not multiple cells.

I am not able to share a screenshot, sorry. It is for work. I am amble to copy 1 cell from Excel & paste it to another cell in smartsheet. Doing only 1 cell doesn't work every time but most of the time. I am able to copy multiple cells from Excel but when I go to paste the multiple cells in smartsheet "paste" is greyed out.

Have you tried command-C in Excel then command-V in Smartsheet? When I try to right click and copy in Excel then paste into Smartsheet, that doesn't work, but if I use command-C and command-V I'm able to paste several cells from Excel to Smartsheet.
I've found importing the Excel sheet into Smartsheet to be the best option though. -
@amccoy I've seen comments about that solution which I have not tried yet. The other major problem is the smartsheet workspace is preset with customized rows. The Excel sheet only has a few rows. I was told if I import I will mess up the customization.

I'm not referring to importing the Excel into the Smartsheet directly. I'm referring to creating a new sheet (grid) and then importing the Excel sheet for the sole purpose of using it to copy-paste within Smartsheet. Essentially, replicating your Excel Sheet in Smartsheet, then copy-paste within Smartsheet is much easier.
Also, I've tested copy-paste using the hotkeys on my Mac and it seems to work as long as you use them in both Excel and Smartsheet. -
@amccoy ahhhh I see what your saying. I understand. I will try that. Thank you for the suggestion.
