There was a request for this by Brad Jones dated March 21, 2016 with 26 pages worth of comments, and it's not a one-off. We're coming up on a decade for a feature request that is standard in the most commonly used spreadsheet tools. https://community.smartsheet.com/discussion/4549/feature-request-borders The ability to create cell borders in a spreadsheet is a critical and standard feature because it directly supports clarity, organization, and communication—three pillars of effective data presentation. Here's why it's so essential: 1. Visual Structure and Readability: Separate headers from data, group related rows or columns, highlight totals or key figures 2. Professional Presentation: Make reports look polished and intentional, emphasize import data, help align with branding or formatting standards 3. Data Interpretation and Analysis: Borders can delineate input areas vs. calculated fields, help users trace formulas or understand models more easily 4. Printing and Exporting: Borders ensure the layout remains intelligible on paper, prevent data from blending together across pages 5. Universality Across Tools: Spreadsheets are used across industries and roles—from finance to education to logistics—borders are a universal visual language. That's why apps like Excel, Google Sheets, and Numbers all include them as a core feature. I'd hope this was finally going to be addressed with the new Table View, but alas… It would be appreciated if someone who moderates this community would provide us with whether this is a priority or not so we can move on.
