Filtering defeats sort function. Moving row to another sheet drops attachment link and forrmulas

1.  I use filtering to hide rows with status <complete>, however when the filter is set, the sorting function is defeated.  To resort, I remove the filter, sort and then reapply the filter.  This is awkward and wastes a lot of keystrokes if done 20x per day.

Another bright idea was to archive the rows to another sheet titled <completed tasks>, but the system drops the document links and formulas - so that is a no-go.

2.  How about a routine that will quickly cancel the existing filter by double clicking on an <x> next to the funel icon, then a dropdown box somewhere that you can invoke with a keystroke and shows a time sorted list of recent filters applied, you pick one on the list and the filter is instantly reapplied.

Cool

Good ideas! I have a suggestion for you... have you used the reporting feature? Reports can pull rows from a single sheet or multiple sheets based on criteria you specify (think: filters). You can build a report that pulls in all the rows from your sheet you want to see (all rows except what you want to filter out) then you can sort the report however you want (without needing to remove any filters). Check it out: http://help.smartsheet.com/customer/en/portal/articles/522214-creating-reports

    John-

Thanks for the reporting ideas to pull in rows based on filter or conditions.  I am on the <Basic> level account plan and would have to upgrade to <Advanced> to get reports.  Yell

    I Have the same Issue..

I work with a workgroup in a spreadsheet with our jobs and dates of delivery. We use it with dates and aplying filters, like ( finished - not show, Cancelled - not show, etc...) But while using those filters we can't sort the lines...

We need to show the lines by date.

    Is there any other way?

    Ps,

We use a report but just as a "mirror," published on some Smart TVS at several places in our office.

    Thanks

Any sorting must be done prior to filtering.  There is no macro recroding capability, yet.
