Work week & calendar days on the same sheet

Hi folks - can anyone tell me how I can have a combination of start/end dates that have standard work week durations (Monday thru Friday) as well as efforts that take weekends into consideration (all calendar days)?

I know how to make the Gantt dependencies reflect one or the other but cannot figure out how to make 1 workstream reflect 30 calendar days vs 30 work days.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi Jeff, it sounds like you know how dependancies work. If they are enabled then tasks will only be scheduled during working days and if dependencies are not enabled tasks will be scheduled over all days. There isn’t a way to have individual working days for tasks and reflect this in your Gantt chart. Do you have a lot of tasks that are scheduled over the weekend? If you only have a few, you could use this workaround:

-Set up a parent row with your task information

-Add Monday - Friday duration as the first child

-Single day task on Saturday as the second child

-Single day task on Sunday as the third child

With this, you task will run Monday - Sunday and when collapsed will give the appearance of a single row/task.

    Hi,

    I have a similar problem:

I would like to add/subtract calendar days (not working days) in the Predecessors column to calculate e.g. submittal days for requirements from e.g. the  PO date.

For duration the Smartsheet help mentions that you can use an e  (elapsed days (e3d)) but it does not seem to work in Predecessors formulas. How can I solve this?

From the Smartsheet help: "Though sub-task duration can be entered in a variety of formats including weeks, whole working days (e.g. 4d), partial working days (3.5d), elapsed days (e3d), hours (7h), minutes (90m), seconds (500s) and milliseconds (50000ms), parent rows will always reflect duration in partial working days."

Maybe there is a better way to do it?
