We have a shared One Drive account and I would like to create a hyperlink to certain documents that are password protected to certain users of a Smartsheet. Is it possible to do this so only those with a password can open the documents (either in Excel or PowerPoint)?
I'm not using onedrive but I think this may be similar. I have put a hyperlink on a dashboard to an excel document saved to box.com. When I click on the file it opens in the box.com (web interface) as view only. From there I can open it in Excel online or using the desktop installed excel (after boxtools is installed). I have added a password but the other users cannot open the document. They get an error message to say the file is encrypted and no option to open it in the online Excel or PowerPoint as I do.
Similar to Mike's response. If you are using OneDrive my suggestion is to use the permission structure inherent to OneDrive rather than locking an Excel file. I use it constantly without issue. Smartsheet has built in OneDrive support.

Locking fields and sheets are a separate issue.
Anyway we can make this view only for security purposes? We would like to prevent users from sending responses to other users by accident.

But is there a way that they can reply in the email of a comment that will then go to the specific sheet. This way they do not have access to the sheet, but can just comment through email with updates?
I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with my current Smartsheet experience. I have paid for a Pro subscription, I am the owner and administrator of my account and sheets, and I have confirmed I am logged into the correct account. Despite this, Smartsheet is not recognizing my Pro subscription, and I am unable to…
