Manually Adjust dates with Predecessors
I am new to smartsheets (as is my team), and so far we have been found smartsheets as an acceptable software solution. However, I recently discovered that I am unable to manually adjust dates if there is a predecessor. this functionality is a requirement. an non-negotiable (for me) requirement.
Here is an example: I have several tasks whose dates can be automated. However, one task must be manually scheduled. I need to be able to flip that task from auto to manually scheduled and have the gantt chart update appropriately. I also need a list that will tell me the reasons my start date is adjusting back if I change it.
In order to get around this, I have turned off predecessors and am now keeping the same project plan in MS Project so I can easily calculate dates. I am then wasting time transferring dates over to smartsheets. This is not an acceptable solution to this gap in your product's functionality.
Please fix this as soon as possible. This issue will rapidly drive me back to MS Project (as in I'll stop using it Monday at 8am rapid), I will also recommend to my organization that we NOT adopt smartsheets and I will advise against using smartsheets anywhere and everywhere I end up going - not out of pettiness, but because the software doesn't meet my needs as a project manager.
Please do not respond with "work arounds". I don't need work arounds I need functionality. Please fix this as soon as possible.
When a person leaves transfer all their stuff to the owner of the workspace
When a person leaves their Smartsheet documents that live in a workspace should automatically transfer to the owner of the workspace where the sheet lives. Instead of transferring it all to one designated person upon request. It would make more sense to transfer to the owner of the workspace if their docs are in one. Currently I am preparing to leave my company, and unlike most people I am doing so with the forethought of who should own what. Since most people are shared to the workspace and not the sheet itself, I must first add the person I am transferring it to then request that they take ownership.
Save as New - Keep Workflows Live unless checked as deactivated
When a sheet is saved as new, associated workflows are copied in a deactivated state. This intentional safeguard is in place to prevent unintended triggers especially in cases where the new sheet may not yet be fully configured. Expecting users to manually reactivate workflows or check that option during the save as new process is a challenge. Please at least move this check box up a level so you notice and check it when saving. We didn't use to have to do this and it has caused problems lately since we didn't know it had changed. Going forward we would like it to be checked unless we deactivate or at least move that activation checkbox to the top level when you save a sheet as new.
New Program Reports for Blueprints
For the New Program Reports, are they included in the 50 dynamic report limit? I already have 46 dynamic Reports, however, would like to create several more….

Re: More Sort Levels
Agreed with posts above. This is a very big limitation that was not clear when we switched over from excel. This is a key issue that doesn't seem like it would be difficult to fix.
Re: Licenses and True-up confusion
Hi all.
I never expected my original post to get such traction but it seems we're all really frustrated about this.
I've just opened my Admin Centre to find that I now have 'Seat Types and True Up' and that the screen is different with a billing cycle to start on 16 July….
I'm trying to go through and ensure that the right people have a license/are a member but it's really going to be difficult going forward as the whole collaboration element of Smartsheet has gone with this change. Some previous collaborators only had access to single sheets such as action logs that they could update themselves.
Working in the healthcare sector, additional licenses are just not an option. 😔
Also, the admin centre just isn't correct. It says I've 8 of 8 licenses used, but when I look at the Seat Types screen, I've only got 5. The Admin centre shows users who are ticked as members, but Seat Types shows them as a viewer.
What a mess.
Re: Automation Notifications Using Groups
I am SO glad to see that this is on the roadmap!!
With the number of individual people to have to add to so many automations then remove if someone moves on, or add when we have new hires… The ability to just have groups to manage and keep updated that follow into automations would be incredibly helpful!
Cant wait until this feature is live for us!

Re: Workflow - SAME SHEET copy a cell to another column
I do something similar on a risk tracker I’ve built where I want to keep a record of the initial values (doesn’t matter what) but also allow for it to be changed freely later.
To do this create an automation that does a one time copy (eg when new row is added) of the entire row to an identical helper sheet.
Your original delivery date should be empty with a column formula which will look up the corresponding user inputted date column in the helper sheet.
You can allow your users to change the date column as much as they want, as that date won’t be changed ever again in the helper sheet as it was a one time copy, therefore your original date will never change.
You will need row to have a unique identifier to allow you to do the look up /index match or whatever you want.
I use this method quite a lot for things like trends or anything that might change I want a record of an original baseline to compare it to.

Re: Roll out new automations through control center
Also following up. Any update on this @Genevieve P. ?
