Copy Specific Columns From One Sheet to Another, Linked

You could use cross-sheet formulas combined with either a VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH structure to connect the sheets, and when you update the source sheet, it will reflect on the destination sheet.

Another option would be to use so-called helper sheets. In short, copy the row to a helper sheet and then use my method described previously to get the values you need to another helper sheet and then copy/move the row from that sheet to the main destination sheet.

Would that work/help?

@Molly Yang If you don't to Sam's point above need attachments on the row and have a unique identifier per row (like an audit number) you might consider DataMesh!

This would be very helpful! I am currently working on converting a huge file over from Excel to Smartsheet. Due to Smartsheet sheet size constraints I have to be creative with multiple sheets now. Allowing columns to copy over to another sheet without having to copy the entire row would help so much!

I am requesting the ability to create an automation where you can copy a single cell to a new sheet. Currently there is an automation to copy an entire row to another sheet however this is not helpful if the sheet structure is not the same.

Can it be made possible to move certain columns of a row instead of the whole row, i.e., if I had 10 rows with data columns A, B, C, D and I wanted to move just column A & D from all rows to another sheet.

@Andrée Starå thanks, I have only just found INDEX and am using that. It was INDEX that made me think there must be another way and now I know there is. Thank you again and I will try your suggestion.

Currently I use the automations to copy or move rows when the trigger is met, however in a lot of cases, not all of the columns are needed. It would be helpful in the automation, you can choose which columns you want to move or copy instead of having to copy / move the entire row of information.
