How to Count Time

Hello, I am very new to functions on Smartsheet, and any help will be greatly appreciated. I am trying to create a sheet with times (minutes and seconds) and attempting to implement a function where if a checkbox is checked, it will count the time from the time column. Can you provide guidance on how to achieve this? Thank you!

@Paul Newcome has created some fantastic solutions regarding working with Time in Smartsheet using formulas, which he linked above.

Since you mentioned you're new to formulas, I just want to clarify that there is no direct way to measure time in Smartsheet in Minutes and Seconds. You could use a Record a Date workflow to record the date that the checkbox is checked, and the time would be stored in the Cell History, but there isn't an easy way to automatically have a timestamp in a cell and then perform calculations off of that (other than Paul's formulas above).

An alternative to the formulas above would be to use a third party application to get the data you're looking for, then import that content into Smartsheet afterwards.

@Robertas If you do end up needing to grab a date/timestamp from a specific action, here is a link to a solution I have developed. The basic idea is to use a copy row automation triggered when the action takes place and then an INDEX/MATCH to pull the date/timestamp back to your working sheet.
