Automation action to Record <Current User>

It would be great if we could have a new Automation Action to 'Record the <Current User>'.

This would be useful for checklists where we want to capture the User who ticked a checkbox column, as well as the date on which it was ticked.

Currently, we can only use the 'Record a Date' automation action for the latter part of this use case. and the 'Assign People' action only allows you to nominate a specific selected individual from a contact list-type column, but not the (relative version of) "<Current User>" as in Reports.

Also, other another alternative automation actions such as 'Change a Cell Value' do not allow changes to Contact List type columns. Strange because it is also dropdown column of sorts.

  • The problem is that you have to move rows to a new sheet if you want to send all attachments in the workflow. The Created By user gets changed when this occurs. We need a way to record the User who submitted a Form and not lose it when we move the row. The same thing with Approvals, the correct way would be to record the user who approved something. Right now we're assuming the user that we sent it to would be the person who approved, but what if we send something to multiple staff, we'd want to record the name of the person who approved. Modified by can get overwritten by the last person who touched a row.
