Forms: Telephone Number Validation - number of digits required

Currently unable to use telephone no. validation for Forms, as the validation requires Form users to enter a 10-digit number for New Zealand - standard mobile numbers in NZ differ between 9 and 10 digits.

It would be great if the data validation could be updated to allow for phone numbers that are different to the default 10-digits for New Zealand (and any other countries affected by this issue).

Similar Problem for Germany. The field is requesting a 12 digit number, but standard for mobile phones is 10. We are 2 digits short.

At the moment the validation in its current form is not usable.

Time zone appropriate telephone confirmation on forms should be a standard feature already. It is frustrating to hear our partners outside of the US have to deal with this.

I don't even know what they are looking for with South African Phone numbers…no matter what I enter its invalid.

The phone number validation issue is a big problem for us. There have always been issues with the validation of UAE phone numbers, no matter how many digit we enter it's invalid as @Gary Fairman pointed out. After the form update which took place a couple of months ago, we are now experiencing the same issue with KSA numbers.

As the bulk of our projects are in the region, this is a major problem for us. We raised a support ticket about it two months ago. I was wondering if there is any update on this please.

Another NZ user, experiencing the same issues. Some people also want to use a landline as a contact, so with country code (which shows) the number is only 8 digits. This needs to be changed to reflect this (and not have a mandatory 10) - we have people complaining about this, and as it's out of our control (but need to have number validation) it would be nice if this is picked up and fixed please (for all the countries facing issues)

We have checked a number of country codes and have found issues with the number validation in many of them.

For example, the following country experience the same issue as NZ - validation only works for either mobile or landline but not both as they have a different amount of digits:

Brazil, China, Japan, Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Sweden, Estonia and Finland.

While the validation for the countries listed below doesn't work no matter how many digit you input:

Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Israel, Slovenia, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Hungary, Greece, Bulgaria, Austria and South Africa.

Both issues really need sorting please and it would be great to have an update.

Seconding Alice on this. The current phone number validation in forms is a major blocker for global operations. We've raised this for years, and not only has it gone unresolved, but it's increasingly problematic. Our teams have invested extensive time testing formatting across countries, only to end up loosing additional time switching to free-text fields to avoid broken submissions.

Now, we're facing issues with inconsistent listing of mobile numbers (due to the field being free-text), leading to failed contact attempts and eroding trust in our processes. This isn’t just a minor inconvenience anymore; it’s actively impacting our ability to deliver quality service to clients. We need a clear roadmap for fixing this and an acknowledgement from the product team that the issue exists and is significantly impacting smartsheet customers.
