Data Mesh Ownership Transfer in the absence of the Owner
Hi all,
In our organization, there are a few Data Mesh’s which connect different Smartsheets. Unfortunately, the owner of these Data Meshs is out sick and therefore, cannot make changes that are needed to be made to them. Question: How can we gain access to the Data Meshs which another person in the organization holds ownership to in their absence?

Hi @soumyae,
I believe that an admin on your account can do this, but this does involve transferring the ownership of the items.
Hope this helps!

@John_Foster that is not correct. To date, Data Mesh and Data Shuttle ownership cannot be transferred. This is considered a critical issue in both the workplaces using Smartsheet and in the Smartsheet organization itself.
Here is an employee response to the same question specific to Data Shuttle in another conversation string. (Data Mesh is in the same catagory)

@Samuel Mueller Hi Sam! The EAP release is essentially step 1 on the path to Data Shuttle workflow sharing. So it will allow System Admins to do some "management" of workflows (archiving, pausing, viewing activity log, etc.) but unfortunately still does NOT cover sharing, which is a very high priority on our roadmap for this year. We've heard a lot of feedback that this is a huge pain point and definitely want to address this as soon as possible!"
To the best of my knowledge, there is still no mechanism in place for ownership transfer, to date.

@The_Plow You can transfer a DataMesh workflow if you are the owner. But not a Data Shuttle workflow, that is correct. In the context of this post for DataMesh, you must be the owner, which is why they are having issues. They did just update the Calendar App to where the system admin can transfer any workflow, so hopefully that functionality is coming to DataMesh as well.

@Samuel Mueller I stand corrected. Thank you for the catch. I was thinking having multiple owners for a Data Mesh, which to my knowledge, is still not possible.

Hi, I'm trying to transfer ownership of a few different data meshes but still don't see a way to do it. Am I missing something or is this still not possible?

@Awalshga assuming you are referring to DataMesh, then you hit this button to transfer your datamesh workflows

Duh! I should have remembered that. Thank you @Samuel Mueller !

It would be great to have a back up owner. I have a datamesh set up via reports and can only refresh hourly when I really need it immediately but for some reason not an option. When I need to push a datamesh before the hour I am the only one who can, not a good situation. It would be great to have a secondary owner that could have the ability to push it to run. I'll submit a product suggestion for this as well.
