Accessing Resource Management Module

Hello! We recently purchased the Resource Management module. I believe we set up our Project sheets with the proper information to track resources in the module. However, when I go to the Resource Management module from the project sheet, I get a message to "assign people with start and end dates and specify an allocation to see their workload". From the screenshot, you can see I have assigned people (me) with 10% allocation per task. Any idea where I made boo-boos? Thank you!!!

  • Hey @Jeff Casto

Can you double check the Project Settings for that sheet to ensure the "Allocation %" column is selected?

The 10 that you have in those cells should also have the % sign next to them.

Let me know if linking this column resolved your issue!

    Cheers,
    Genevieve

    Thanks @Genevieve P. !

The project settings are set to "Allocation %". For some reason it shows "Allocation % (2)".

I put the % next to the number now, but still getting no response from the right column.

Maybe that weird "Allocation % (2)" has something to do with it?

    Thanks for the help!!!

  • Hi @Jeff Casto

Can you scroll all the way over to the right (perhaps change to Grid view instead of Gantt) to see if there's another column on your sheet called "Allocation % (2)"?

This should be the column synced to the Resource Management panel, so that's where you'll want to put in your percent 🙂

    What the what?

    1. You are a life saver. Thanks You!!!
    2. Why did Smartsheet make that other column? I didn't do it.
    3. Can I delete that "Allocation (2)" column and the original (without the (2)) work? I'll test that!

    Thanks so much @Genevieve P.

  • Haha I'm glad we figured it out! 🙂

Yes, you can delete the (2) column as long as you select the first % column in your Project Settings 🙂
