Set Contact field display type to name or email

When using Assigned To or any other contact field across a large number of sheets, and then aggregating that data in a report or pivot that groups by the contact field, it becomes quickly painful that the same contact appears as both their email address and their name, depending on how someone entered them into the Contact field.

I'd like to see an option for Contact field properties that allows the field to force email or name as the displayed data, so that grouped/aggregated contacts actually group the user onto a single line rather than multiple lines.

1000% Agree!! The countless community thread posts on how to work with this contact column to export/analyze, and inconsistencies on the column value is an absolute nightmare. I've read people trying to create (1) 'helper' columns, (2) create an overly complicated process of duplicate sheets, using Text column, pushing the data back to the primary sheet…. (3) and 285 other UNIQUE ways to get either all emails or all names.

#SMARTSHEET, just fix it!
