Automations Creating an Infinite Loop

I have a task list that I am trying to automate the status changing based on due date. I have one workflow that sets the row to 'do later' when the date is within 24 days and not within 7 days and a second workflow that sets the row to 'do now' when the date is within 7 days. The first workflow keeps becoming invalid because it is causing an infinite loop. I cannot figure out how to make this work a different way.
