Why am I not getting a workflow notification email when I trigger the action?

A notification is triggered when I or one other person enters a date in a field. When the other person enters the date, we both receive the notification email; however, when I enter the date, the other person receives the email, but I do not. The other person is the owner, I am an admin if that makes any difference.
