Bridge: Plugin Error INVALID_DATA
Hi,
I am creating a workflow to update a dropdown automatically. It gets the data (array), but I get the following error when updating the column with the array data. Does anyone know the reason? Thank you

Hi @Genevieve P. and @Paul Newcome
I found the cause of the error. Each array field cannot exceed 256 characters, as the Update Column does not handle values beyond this limit.
Thank you for your assistance.

Can you show more details how your workflow is set up along with exactly what you expect to happen?

Hi Paul,
It is a simple workflow that gets the data from a column in one sheet and transfers to it to another sheet. The column in the source sheet is a combination of two sheets. The "extract from array gets the data correctly" but when using the "Update column" in the destination sheet, I get the error. The source sheet column is text/number and the destination column is dropdown. The source data should become the list items for the dropdown column. Here is a screen shot of the workflow:

Ok. And what are the settings in the Update Column module?

I would suggest getting rid of the column name and index and only enter the column ID. I would also suggest using a Get Sheet to pull the sheet that houses the column you want to update. You can filter the Get Sheet module to only pull info for the column name in question. This data pulled will definitely contain the correct column ID which can then be output into the column ID portion of the Update Column module.

@Paul Newcome, Thank you.
The column ID is correct, I removed the column name and index and I got the same error.

Did you try using a Get Sheet module to get the column ID and pull in the run log data instead of hardcoding a column ID?

The following post is the correct one.

I changed it, I added another state to get the sheet and update the row, even did it dynamically and still got the same error:

Would you know what this error means?

Hi @NJIT PPMO
I believe you're following the steps in this article, is that correct?
I agree with Paul about simplifying your Update Column module, making sure you have the Sheet ID and the Column ID, along with the Dropdown Type and Values to include, but nothing else.
I tested and was able to successfully update my column dropdown values using a list from cells in another column with this module set-up:
Double check that the array you're referencing in the Values section is the correct reference from the run log:
If this doesn't work, I would suggest testing it with a smaller array with simple values (e.g. "Test 1", "Test 2", and "Test 3"). If the small array with easy values updates, it may be the content of your array.
Let us know what you find out!
Cheers,

Hi @Genevieve P.,
Thank you for your response. I tested the plugin with simple values, and it worked fine. However, it doesn't seem to work with the specific values I need. Is there a restriction on the type of data the plugin can handle? The source sheet concatenates the values from two columns, and the array pulls that result. But when I try to update the column, I get the error message.

Hi @NJIT PPMO
How many characters does your longest value have?
I believe a single value would need to be fewer than 100 characters to upload successfully. Are any of your options longer than this?
Another test would be to check any of the extra characters in the custom text. Try making sure the values are plain text.
