Is there a way to use cascading filters in Smartsheet forms?
I am building a form in Smartsheet where I need to use a list of information from a sheet to create dependent or cascading filters in the form. For example, if I have a column called "Continent" in the form and I select "America," I want the next column called "Country" to only display countries that belong to "America," such as USA, Mexico, Brazil, etc. Similarly, if I choose "Europe" in the continent column, I want the country column to only display European countries like Germany, Italy, Spain, etc.
Is it possible to achieve this in a form using the provided information?

Hey @Marco B
Sure can - using Conditional logic.
First, create 2 Drop Down columns for each of the Continents & the countries. i.e.; [Continent Africa]. [African Countries] and so on, (perhaps fill country drop down with Country/Capitol City)
When building your form use Conditional Logic for each of the continent columns.. This way only the relevant column is displayed for that continents countries..
Don't forget to Add & save.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.

Hi @Jason P,
First of all, thanks a lot for your reply.I thought of this solution, however, I need to centralize the country in the same column and by leaving them separate they will not load the information in the same way, is there a way to later combine the countries in the same column?
In addition, I would have to create more than 5 columns per continent and then segregate the information in the same column, which is where it becomes complex, is there a solution for this?

Hi @Marco B,
The answer is YES. We can build a form with cascading filters that is predefined in a setting sheet.
See the demo video below for your use case.

@Gia Thinh That's beautiful…
@Marco B All good mate. I'd be confident in saying there's a formula out there that could achieve what your outcome, like = [Continent]1 + "," + [Country]2 and so but I'm not a formula Guru, others however! - legends…
Cheers.

@Jason P,
thank you very much for your help and for the ideas you provided. I'm going to try this last method that you mentioned. -
@Gia Thinh,
What you show in the video is exactly what I'm looking to configure, a sheet that is used as code to load the data that needs to be filtered in a dependent or cascading manner like "Continents" and "Countries", therefore another sheet that is fed into the form, exactly as you show in the Demo video.However, on our part, more than having the form made for us, what we need is to know how to configure it that way, therefore, I would greatly appreciate it if you could give me a clue, formula or key to be able to create a form like the one you showed in the demo? I look forward to your response, thanks in advanced.
