Cell Changed Color When Formula Updated

✭✭✭✭✭
edited 11/08/24 in Formulas and Functions

I just updated a date cell formula to give someone a little longer to complete a list of tasks and they all turned yellow. It' not a cell filled color because you can't remove it. I have updated this formula before and not had any issues with the box changing colors, so I can't figure out why it's doing it now. It's a simple formula =Start@row+21. I only changed the 21 value - it previously was 14 for a two week deadline. Will the color go away? The only reason it is concerning is that I use that yellow color to indicate something is in progress and I don't want people to get confused.

TIA!

Cell Changed Color When Formula Updated

    Hi,

I hope you're well and safe!

It's probably the Highlight Changes feature that is active.

    Do you know of it?

    Was that the issue?

    I hope that helps!

Be safe, and have a fantastic day!

    Hi Regina!

You're referring to the cell color where you have the formula (and not, say, a symbol Status column)?

Is it possible you have the "Highlight Changes" toggled on? That will highlight any cells where there's been a change - and yellow is the default color.

Alternately, you could check your conditional formatting rules to see what's there.

Feel free to post a screenshot if you're still having trouble!

Highlight changes was on. When I turned it off, the yellow went away. I have never used that feature, so it must default to that. Thanks so much for the quick response. I knew I would find my answer here! 😀

    Excellent!

    Happy to help!

And it was probably someone else that turned it on. It's a very useful feature to be in the loop of what has changed.
