I completely agree with everyone here.

I will also specifically agree with @Andrée Starå that this function is available at least by proxy with Dynamic Views, which are sort of like a hyrid of a Report and a Form [for those who haven't used them]. They're very useful and my team has relied on them in the absence of savable forms, as well as for its own merits.

The only reason I don't say it fully solves the issue is that Dynamic Views don't work on Smartsheet Mobile! Or at least, not without jumping through hoops to get it to work. That's probably a dealbreaker for people right there.

My point is, Dynamic Views might be a good enough substitute for now, but save-able forms is absolutely a must-have feature.

what is the planned timeline to release this in the web version?

  • We created status of in draft but this just means one more thing to teach people how to use a form before submitting fix status. It is impactful because our forms send automation for approval and sometimes people start to create the form and are missing details. This should be a feature improvement for sure.

  • We really need this feature for our users! We are a staffing company and use forms for our recruiters to capture the initial phone screens they do with our candidates. While the forms work well and we love the document generation feature that emails the completed form to our recruiters, it's SO important that they can jump around and record answers to common questions in the right sections of the form as the conversations/interviews unfold organically. Unfortunately, sometimes this navigation can result in accidentally closing tabs or hitting a 'back' button and then alllll that work is lost. An auto-save feature would be SO appreciated!

  • We have a lengthy form with "helper text" to explain some of the column headers so users can have a better understanding of what information they'll need to provide. It is often difficult to have all the information ready to complete the form in one go. It would be very helpful if we could create a form that allows teams to partially complete and return later to continue to edit the form before hitting "Submit". This is such a key feature requested by our management team that we may need to move away from using Smartsheet because Smartsheet cannot accommodate "Save and continue later" on forms.

I see that similar requests have been raised by users back in 2015. It's a shame if the product has not made any improvement on this over the years.
