Please Allow Multiple Admins for DataMesh

Our team is really struggling to troubleshoot issue when the owner of a DataMesh or Data Shuttle is out of the office. Please allow multiple Admins and/or Editors (or, at the very least, Viewers) for these critical tools.

It would be very helpful if DataMesh configuration could be shared with others either for viewing or editing. There is no way for someone to see if DataMesh is being used to update data or what data is being updated other than the person who created the DataMesh.

This makes support very difficult. It also makes turnover of projects very difficult.

As an Admin in an Enterprise system, it's very difficult when employees leave if you can't see what they own.

It just wouldn't enhance productivity it would ensure no losses and the ability to edit if someone is on leave. This is a critical need

When a user's Smartsheet license is removed we are currently unaware if a person has any configs in Data Mesh. When a person is deleted or license removed, these configs should go to an escrow account like we do currently with sheets. We just learned someone had configs and fortunately the person's ID had not been deleted yet, so by adding the license back we were able to transfer the configs. There needs to be some type of dashboard/visibility to see who owns configs, similar to data shuttle. And upon license removal the configs should automatically go to an 'escrow' account like owned sheets.

This is a critical need for our company, Workday, as well. We're really struggling to troubleshoot DataMesh and Data Shuttle when the owner is out of the office, which is causing big issues.

I strongly agree with this. I cannot find a way to view my teammate's data mesh configurations. We should be able to share with other team member's as back-up and have the ability to view or edit when given permission. The way it is locked down right now doesn't seem to be the best business practice.

Agreed, this is critical for our team. Its impossible to know what my teammates have set up, and vice versa. This is not effective for a team environment. This causes possible duplication of efforts as well.

Centralizing details about all DataMesh configurations would be helpful. I'm sure if we looked at all the jobs across our Department we could - create one job to replace several jobs by different users doing the same thing. This cuts down on redundant processing, and ensures the source data is the best source, and each data used in similar manner - for consistency. I'm sure there are plenty of requests - for different reasons - the out of office scenario posted by @kelly.m I'd like to keep track of who is using data from one of my sheets - to ensure they have the details (assumptions related to data they are messhing to their sheet.)

The inability to share DataMesh configs with team members seems antithetical to Smartsheet's collaborative design. Transferring ownership should not be the singular sharing option provided for these configs. Many of us in Smartsheet share responsibilities over sheets across our team, and we provide technical support to our stakeholders; we need to have all of the collaborative sharing methods available to us for these additional "premium apps."

  • I'm excited to announce that Data Shuttle workflow sharing has been generally released!

@Danielle Wilson Yes, we are very excited and now share our Data Shuttles! What about DataMesh? Is sharing these on the roadmap? If so, can you please share an estimated timeline?

  • @kelly.m Nothing I've heard recently about adding sharing of DataMesh workflows! You can at least transfer ownership of those workflows.

Incorporating Datamesh roles or multiple owner capabilities into Smartsheet would significantly enhance its functionality and collaborative potential. Datamesh roles would allow for more granular control over data access and manipulation, ensuring that team members can interact with the data in ways that align with their specific roles and responsibilities. This would not only improve data governance but also streamline workflows by reducing bottlenecks associated with data permissions. Additionally, having multiple owner capabilities would facilitate shared ownership of critical projects, promoting accountability and continuity even if one owner is unavailable. This feature would be particularly beneficial for complex projects that require input and oversight from various stakeholders, ultimately leading to more efficient project management and better outcomes.
