Please let Smartsheet work with time

Sometime when doing sign ups we would like to be able to have a time format the same way we have a date format. It would help for signing up for shifts or would allow for a form that you can enter preferred times. Right now we ask people to use a certain format, but it would be great if it could be required so we don't get 1pm, 1300, 1, and 1:00 from different people on forms.

Another use case is for support ticket tracking. We track how long a ticket is open along with its priority to determine when to escalate the ticket. We have SLAs ( service level agreements) in place for how quickly a ticket needs to be responded to as well as different levels of escalations and communication times ( it would be great to automate these).

Of course, we would want to do reporting on durations in hours, minutes, seconds (maybe not).

We are looking to replace our current ticketing system, but cannot even consider using SS without have the options to create timestamp columns.

@Cathy Salscheider Here's a method I developed for timestamping specific actions within a sheet. It doesn't provide for a ton of scale, but it does work. Once captured, you can use an INDEX/MATCH or similar to bring the timestamp back over to your original sheet if needed.

Yes, this is something I also need for data reporting and compliance. "Time" and "Date & Time" column types would be a huge help.

Would it be possible to have "Time" column type option as one of the column properties. And if possible to have the ability to chose between Standard Time or/and Military time.

We are currently have formulae to pull Time (Standard) from the Create column and then converting that time to Military Time. The downside about this is, we have a couple of users across regions and what happens is that time keeps updating based on the time difference of the last person that saved the sheet.

In addition to this, could an automation for record time also be created. That should be different from the record date automation.

This would be extremely helpful. I have a Conference Room Request sheet set up and there is no function for a column to allow the user to select what the start/end times are for their request. End users put in all kinds of different information (8am, 2:15pm, 2…)

I would like to have the date and start time in 1 column. This is for a good display in the giant view. If there is now a one-hour job, the display is from the start of the day

I use smartsheet to capture input from a wide audience. It'd be great if i can fix a standard format for a time column (e.g. 2:00 am or 02:00) to ensure accurate information.

Currently after speaking to support there is no way to validate a 24 or 12 hour time format. Attempting to build a schedule based upon form submissions and for them to auto sort based upon date AND time, but currently without manually sorting the column this is not possible. Was suggested to make this request of the Dev team and see if this can be implemented.

Asset Sharing should default to View, not Edit
Since the license model has changed, the option to Share should default to VIEW, not EDIT. The View option allows less-experienced users to share that way by default, and share as Edit only when needed. This allows for less cleanup during true-up. This also prevents users from adding provisional licenses unknowingly.
