Target Date/Delta info vs Baseline in PMO plan template
Hello!
I've read through several past posts related to this but couldn't quite find my answer.
We are using the PMO plan template and have activated the baseline feature. My manager has asked if there is a reason to keep the Target Start/End date columns as well as the related Delta columns since they're basically the same as the baseline info. She understands that adding a new task won't fall into the baseline and she's noted that resetting baseline is a rarity for our projects. We've also created a new Schedule Health column that feeds from the variance column.
I'm no pro in Smartsheet so I am hesitant to remove set template columns if there is the possibility of doing so impacting things down the road. I'm more inclined to move those columns to the end and hide them. :-)
Appreciate any feedback!
Thank you!

Hi @melissalk
Great question! If you’ve already activated the baseline feature and created a Schedule Health column, you might not need the Target Start/End date and Delta columns unless they’re being referenced in other formulas, reports, or dashboards. Removing those columns won’t impact functionality unless they're actively being used elsewhere.
We work with situations like this all the time and understand the importance of ensuring nothing breaks down the line. If you're hesitant, moving them to the end of the sheet and hiding them is a safe option. This way, you can avoid disruptions and still retain the data if needed later.
Let me know if you'd like help reviewing your setup or optimizing the template!
