Dynamic View comments, @mentions, and notifications for users not shared to underlying sheet

When a user is shared to the Dynamic View but NOT the underlying sheet, @mentions in the Comments tab do not auto-populate and are rather useless. This makes no sense, as the purpose of Dynamic View is to prevent the need for sharing the underlying sheet and sensitive data. Communication should be able to be streamlined and self-contained within Dynamic View.

Yes, even if the user does not auto-populate as you type @, you could write the entire email address out and "successfully" tag them in the comment that way — but the email alerts for @mentions will have links to the source sheet and not the Dynamic View. As another user stated, this causes a lot of confusion and incorrect clicking of links/access requests.

I have already upvoted the Product Idea for this to be improved, but my question is —

Has anyone found a workaround for this in the meantime, which does not require sharing the underlying sheet?

Many other users have run into the same issue (see links below).

    Hi Bethle,

(as a workaround - maybe ??) - Instead of relying on @mentions , you can set up automated workflows in the underlying sheet to notify users when comments are added.

Create a Workflow Triggered by Comments: Set up a workflow in the underlying sheet that triggers when a comment is added to a row.

Customize the Notification: In the workflow, include a direct link to the Dynamic View in the notification message. This ensures users are directed to the correct view instead of the source sheet.

    Steps:
    Go to the underlying sheet.
    Create a new automation workflow.
Set the trigger to "When a comment is added."
Add an action to "Alert someone" and customize the message to include the Dynamic View link.

Hi @Louis1 thank you for your response! This would only work if you could somehow determine which recipients should receive the notification, right? Like if there were always 2 assigned people to this row, we could identify them via contact list columns. But there are many users working across multiple rows, so it's hard to identify who in particular should receive the notification (and we probably wouldn't want everybody to receive a notification for every comment).

Thoughts? Let me know if I'm missing something.
