User Subscription Model - NEED a static VIEWER ONLY option (interns, temps etc.)

In the new User Subscription Model, what options exist if we need a user to ALWAYS ONLY be a VIEWER ONLY? Meaning no action can make them become an Editor/Provisional Member.

This new User Subscription Model leaves the department that pays the bill at the mercy of everyone that forwards an item and the share permission.

Should the SHARE feature default to VIEWER and then when applicable the person sharing has to intentionally change to Editor-Can Share, Editor - Cannot share, or Commenter?

This would be awesome. I've had to reorganize my division's Smartsheets as some individuals require higher level permission sets to make edits and changes however they are not in a role that should determine other users' permissions sets themselves. #permission #security #restricteddata #masterdataspecialist #needtoknowpolicy

I think the way that USM works these days is that when a user has become provisional, and then is demoted back to a free user, they can't go back up to being provisional ever again within that Smartsheet plan. I assume in that case, if somebody shares as EDITOR that effectively they will only have VIEWER functionality.

This might effectively be what you're looking for?

I have definitely seen users downgraded from Provisional to Viewer and then if they edit, they become Provisional again. Meaning if I make them a Viewer and anyone shares a sheet with them as an Editor, that wins…and as soon as they actually edit, they become a provisional user again. If they permanently stayed a viewer only after downgraded once, eventually everyone except the company PMs will have been downgraded once the project they contribute to is over.

I really appreciate everyone's feedback as we all try to learn this new User Subscription Model!

This goes back to the topic of the IT Admin over Smartsheet no longer has control over the budget without a lot of manual work. And in this business environment, that won't work well if this product becomes highly manual (either manual to maintain or manual because you can't have many users any more).

I thought they just made the change that even if they are shared as an editor on a sheet the admin center permissions trump the shared permissions?
