Auto Update Request with a Single Attachment
Here's the scenario...
- I have an auto update request set up that is sent to customers based on key dates related to their project row
- I attach multiple files to each customer's project row related to their project. Some of which they don't need to see.
- When the auto-update gets sent out, there is a single PDF attachment I WOULD like to be included in the auto-update request, while excluding the others.
I tried to accomplish this by opening the file (it's always a PDF), and copying the url into another field that I included in the auto-update request, but it appears that those links are temporary or something. It doesn't work.
The only other thing I can think of would be to use a 3rd-party app like Dropbox to house the files and then link to those urls in an "attachment" column that is included in the update request. Which stinks because it's one more place I have to go to upload my stuff.
Does anyone have any other bright ideas for solving this? Thanks, in advance.

Could you solve this by using a parent/child relationship? Perhaps the bulk of the project docs could be added to the parent row and the single, customer-facing row containing the pdf attachment could be the child. Then, base the update request on the child row. Would this work?

Thanks @Dartwohl.
This could be a workaround...it will require some manual steps but I'm going to play around with it. Thanks so much for the suggestion.

You are very welcome. Hope it works out for you with as little pain as possible .
