Restricting access to certain rows
I have a smartsheet for travel requests within an organisation of about 2000 people. Each row contains the requester's e-mail and details about date, destination cost and purpose of travel. I then use formulae to display remaining budget, etc. to approvers. Within the organisation there are about 15 people who can approve. I have shared the sheet with these 15 people. The full 2000 do not have access to the sheet, but instead enter their requests via a form.
I am trying to find a way of giving each requester the ability to see their own requests, but no-one else's requests.
I thought I could do it by giving everyone access to a report which keys on current user, then give all 2000 people access to that report. However, if they do not have access to the underlying sheet then no data is displayed.
I then thought of giving everyone access to the sheet and using a filter on current user. However, its easy for anyone to disable the filter.
Can anyone suggest a way of achieving what I am looking for?

Hi Mike,
It sound like the Smartshees addon: Status View would be a great solution for your use case.
Please see attached link/screenshot.

Would that work?
I hope this helps you!

Hello,
I am trying out the Status View App and am having some trouble. Was hoping someone could help me out. I have created the first of four status views i would like to create for different parts of our group ..
After creation .. i get a screen that looks like the first attachment. Nothing like the instructions show in second attachment...
I have also submitted two work requests through the form ; and nothing is showing up on this board.
Hoping someone can figure out what i am doing wrong:) and thanks ahead of time!

Hi Andrée,
Many thanks for this. It looks like it could have done the trick, but unfortunately I am part of a Coporate Account and we do not have that add-on.
Regards, Mike.

Hi again Mike,
For the cost/investment involved, i would absolutely recommend it. It seems to me that the ROI would be very quick for your use case with so many users.
See another thread here about Status View.
