Hi,
I have a smartsheet project and am wanting to copy and paste multiple cells from a MS excel document into the 'task name' column.
Can this be done ?
Thank you
Alan
Hi Alan,
Absolutely! Just copy and paste as usual.
I hope this helps you!

When I select and copy multiple cells from the excel sheet, and paste, they all go into just one cell in the project sheet ?
Ok.
Are the cells in Excel in the same column?
Which type of column are you pasting it into in Smartsheet?
Yes, cells in same column
Column type in project sheet is 'text/number'
That's strange! It works for me.
Can you check the data in Excel and see what format it is?
It's a MS Excel for Mac (365 subscription)
The cells I'm trying to copy/paste are all text. I checked the cell format they are in and it was set to 'number/general'.
I changed to 'text' but it still doesn't work.
I am having to copy and paste each cell individually which is a bit of a pain.
The excel sheet is an estimating sheet which lists all the tasks on a project so we can cost the project.
I was hoping to just simply copy and paste the tasks straight into a project sheet and then put dates/durations etc against them
Strange!
If you want you can share the file with me and I'll take a look and see if it works for me.
One workaround could be to import the excel and copy and paste from one sheet to another inside Smartsheet.
Thanks Andree
I'll give your second option a try.
Happy to help!
Another tip!You can also copy or move rows from one sheet to another and if you have the same column on both it will automatically be added to the right one. The columns that don't match up will be added to the sheet as new columns to the far right.
Andrée
I can't copy more than one cell from my excel sheets directly into Smartsheet. I use a MacBook on 365 subscription.
Has anyone got a solution for this?
Thanks
Hi Alice,
That's strange! It should work. What happens when you try to copy and paste?

Doesn't work for me either, which is annoying as we're looking to convert a load of existing task lists in Excel 2010 into plans in SS.
Is this linked to the browser, as I'm tied to using IE 11?
One possible workaround would be to import the excel sheets to Smartsheet and the copy/move the information there.
Would that work for you?
Hi Andree -
I have the same problem.
I cannot cut and paste columns of data into or from smartsheet any longer. It did work pre-upgrade but no longer does. Win 10, Chrome or IE.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks,
How did it go? Did you get a solution to your problem?
Hello. Me and my team are doing an audit of users who have access to edit items in our account and one of the reports we're using is the Sheet Access report under the User Management section of the Admin Center. However, we're running into some weird things. When we dig into the Sheet Access report, we sometimes notice…
No License required I am sharing a published link, no license required to a group of people. The goal is for them to be able to edit the sheet. Would each member be required to create a smartsheet account? Please, is there a way for them to access my sheet without having to create an account? Many thanks!
This has happened a couple of times before. However, when trying to update a form or even a field in the smartsheet, I am unable to use the backspace, enter or delete key. I use Google browser, however I wasn't sure if it was Google, so I switched to Microsoft Edge. Still not working. Also, I tried using the backspace,…
