Copying Links of a single cell to multiples on another sheet

Has anyone else had a problem copying a link to one reference cell to multiples on another sheet?

We have the problem of trying to link a single reference number on a master sheet to a group of candidates on a second sheet. Functionality-wise I want a change in the master board to immediately update on the secondary list of candidates (the 25000 cell limitation on vLOOKUPs blew it out of the water).

Trouble is even though I copy the link and in [paste special] on the secondary sheet select 'link to copied cell' it only pastes in the first cell of the group, not the highlighted group beneath it in the same column. I was expecting if I select 20 then all 20 cells would paste special the link to the master cell, a bit like $column$row in excel.

What am I doing wrong?

Hello John, 

If you select a range on the source sheet and copy and select the same range on the destination sheet and paste special it will cell link every selected cell.

My guess is that you are selecting only the first cell on the destination sheet. 

NOTE - you can only cell link in batches of 500 cells.
