Conditional Formatting - One rule on multiple columns

Is there a way to select multiple columns and apply a single conditional format for multiple columns down the columns?

I will submit a product request but also want to echo this need. I need to have the same conditional formatting for ~15 rows where a cell is highlighted red if 'XL' is present, orange if 'L' is present, etc. Right now, I need to create 3 conditional formats per column x 15. That's....not efficient or sustainable. Conditional formatting should be able to cloned across columns - this seems like a fairly basic feature and something Excel does SO much better.

I was curious if there are any updates on this. I have a conditional formatting rule I need to clone across 15 columns, twice (2 different conditions). I don't really want to have 30 rules for one function...

I echo the need to have this function. I too am building (and have built) sheets using the conditional formatting the clone function just is to cumbersome. Its just easier to build a new rule each time. Have 18 columns and growing and need to set 3 color codes to highlight cell for a monthly metrics and if they are meeting, below, or way below (green, yellow, red) for their achievement that month. I see this thread started quite some time ago, but have not seen any updates coming through. Can someone give us an update on whether this submittal has been considered and /or is on deck for development. For efficiency purposes, which Smartsheets promotes, this would be a great win for a number of users.

Please add this feature. I just had to delete 732 conditional formats to change the column type and now I have to go back and add all 732 conditional formats back into the sheet.

Can someone point me to this feature request, so I can pile on? This 'seems' like a simple enough request.

Honestly, the Conditional Formatting feature is incredibly useful, but is bogged down by literally a decade of neglect versus what could have been aggressive, strategic development to make it more powerful. Smartsheet seems to spend more time coming up with new features that to me are of questionable value than updating and strengthening its core offering.

@Genevieve P. Cool, thank you very much. I am a big fan of Smartsheet, have used it for a very long time and carried it with me through several companies/been an evangelist. It's just frustrating...when you have a tool you love, you want it to be all that it can be. And you want to feel love in return, and sometimes I just really feel like as a user, my needs are not a priority.
