Linking the text in a cell to a document

edited 12/09/19 in Smartsheet Basics

If I have a PO # that occurs in multiple cells. Is there a way to link the PO# text to the actual document?  I don't want to link the cell to another sheet. I want to link the PO# text to the actual PO document.  So a team member can simply click on the link to view the PO.

Yes, if the document is online you can link with the help of hyperlinking. Right click on the cell and choose "Hyperlink" and fill in the "Link to URL".

    Would that work for you?

    I hope this helps you!

The PO could also be attached to the sheet or row. If the document is frequently evolving, it may end up being more of a hassle doing it this way and trying to keep up with uploading the updated versions, but if it doesn't really change much once it's set, then that could be another option for you.

The hyperlink method can also be used if the document is on a shared drive that everyone has access to.
