Counting how many times a milestone slips

I would like to add a column that would count the number of times a milestone has slipped. My thoughts were to add a column in front of comments (see attached) and count the number of instances that the finish date has been edited. I thought of using the COUNTIF function, but unsure how to get the cell to count on a different cell.

Hi,

I would add a dropdown or a few columns with checkboxes and then sum them together. It's, unfortunately, a manual process to register when a milestone has slipped multiple times.

I have used Zapier for such counts. If I had to do it on more than a few Sheets, I would use the API.
