Is there a way to copy and paste a row and retain its cell links to the pasted row?

Hi Heidi, copying and pasting in a sheet will not include links but you can copy and paste from one sheet to another to create the link. To do this, go to the source sheet, highlight the cells/row, right click and select copy. Go to the destination sheet, right click in the cell where the data will go and select Paste Special > Links to Copied Cells.

Also, the right-click method (Paste Special > Links to Copied Cells) is faster for any large linking, especially for new rows like on a dashboard.

  • If I copy the links to another sheet but delete the original sheet will i lose my link? I am trying to simplify what I originally set up but I don't want to lose all my links to my main Sheet.

If the linked FROM sheet is deleted, the linked TO sheet will show a missing link (the arrow turns red)

Any update on this?  I don't have a "paste special" option either.  Thanks!

Just had a corporate training session yesterday.

Copy the source cells, navigate using the left panel (3 bars) to the destination, then right click, "Paste Special" (or CTRL+SHIFT+V). Then click "Links to Copied Cells"

Huge caveat - Paste Cell links only works in THE SAME BROWSER TAB. Can't have two windows open & copy between them. (Which is what most people ware attempting) Not really as good as it sounds because of the way you have to navigate. It's easier to start at the destination, right click, then "link from cell in another sheet".
