Notification with Attachments

Hi there, 

I would like to send a notification with an attachment based of a status change. The notification works, but doesn't include the attachment. I have seen on the community that this is not possible in SS - is this still true?

If so, do you know of any good apps/software to automate that process? I have looked into a few like Zapier and Azuqua, but having a hard time having the emails include the attachment. 

OR - am I missing a feature that can do this for me???

A workaround could be to link to the file in Dropbox, Google Drive or similar instead.

If you already have the document attached, you can include it in the Notification (see below), but unfortunately you'll have to go with a 3rd party app if you want to send different ones based off of the status.

Unfortunately, that doesn't work. The attachment will only be included if it's a part of the change that happened.

Gosh I have seen SO many commenters asking for this functionality going back over 2 years! Why can't SS just incorporate this into the platform??

As an optional workaround, you could use an update request instead because that will include the attachments.

Hey Andre,

This does seem to work within the Approval Workflow, but only for row based attachments. It would be great if you could include attachments to the sheet that were non-row specific. See the screen-shot.

As a possible workaround, you could add the files as links in a so-called helper column and then use a formula to include them on all rows, or you could add the attachments to another sheet and link to that sheet instead.

Would any of those workarounds work/help?

Hey @Andrée Starå I know you mentioned that the attachments would only be included if they were part of the change. But I am trying to grab the attachments within Zapier. Zapier has a Smartsheet Trigger of "when a new row is added", but oddly, it doesn't pull the attachments even if they are included via a Smartsheet form. It doesn't even appear that you can add attachments to a new Smartsheet row via Zapier if I were to use a separate form builder. It seems like a glaring gap in the Smartsheet>Zapier integration. I don't know if anyone else has found a workaround. In the end I am looking to upload documents to both a Smartsheet row and Google Drive folder.
