Calculate days remaining

01/28/16 Edited 12/09/19

I have an estimated project Finish date of 8/9/16 in a column "Finish".  this date is in row 6 and row 161.  I have entered a row name TODAY and set the date to current date in the 'Finish" column row 4.

I attempted to use the formula:

=NETDAYS([Finish]6,[Finish]4)

I get no result or error message.  Just the formula.

What am I doing wrong?

I did a search on this site before submitting this message.

  • Micheal,

When dependencies are enabled functions don't work in the durration column...See below.  I would suggest making a new column for calculations.

I found a Q&A talking about this in the help articles:

    http://help.smartsheet.com/customer/portal/articles/775363

"Q. I typed my formula correctly but it's displaying as text in the cell. What went wrong?
    A. When dependencies are enabled on a sheet, formulas aren't allowed in the dependency-enabled columns: start date, duration, finish date, predecessors, % complete or % allocation. The values in these columns are generated automatically based on the dependency settings and would overwrite formulas. If a formula is manually typed into one of these columns, it will display as plain text rather than performing a calculation."

I am stuck trying to calculate days remaining in a project (your article link doesn't work). I understand about columns with dependencies so I created a new Date Column. I used the Today() formula and the end date, but the result is #DATE EXPECTED error message.
