Multiple date ranges for one row?

Wondering if it's possible to add more date ranges for a single row, so that multiple occurences of one task will show up in the gantt view.  I'm trying to create an advertising schedule for various events, and each ad runs multiple different times during the lead up to each event.  I'd rather not create a separate row for each occurence of the same ad.  Anyone know if this is possible?

See the attached screen shot for an idea.  In essence, if "Ad 1" is running Feb 2-4, Feb 10-12, and Feb 20-22.....I'd like all to show up in one row, rather than doing a new row for each.  Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions...

Unfortunately there's no way of having more than two dates per row as Smartsheet grabs a start and finish date only (or just a start date in calendar view). I myself would find it VERY useful to be able to put more than one set of dates per row - so much that it would mean another business partner come onboard and use Smartsheet. Our projects are news story based and go to three seperate parties, on three seperate days. When you have 9 stories, each going out three times, that amounts to 27 rows just for one "set". +1 for the option to have multiple sets of dates!

    Jaye,

For your example, couldn't you set up three Reminders for each story?

If there was a way to get a listing of Reminders that had been set up, when they were going out, and editing/updating them and part of the listing/viewing was in a calendar format, would that work?

    Just thinking out loud.

Hi Craig! I'm not sure that would work in our scenario, but I'm also not 100% sure I know what you're suggesting. Our leaders need to be able to view everything in the calendar format and would need to see each news story on their respective days. We use conditional formatting to be able to view at a glance who is receiving the story. We are also cell linking these dates, names, and assignments from our marketing specialists' own sheets as they often have built out their own workbacks for projects.

I love the thinking out loud! Helps me learn, even if the example you gave can't be used right now I'm sure it could come in handy in another scenario.

    Jaye,

If you need to see everything on the Calendar view, then you are stuck (currently) with the two column of dates (start/end).

For the multiple reminders though, this is what I was thinking of:

so you end up with 9 stories and 3 reminders per story.

Each story on its own row.

  • I just signed up for Smartsheet yesterday and am also trying to figure out how to do multiple date ranges on one row.  I'm trying to translate a two-dimensional table schedule that has episodes 101 through 110 as the row headers and tasks like "shoot dates", "editor cut", "director cut" etc. as the column headers.  The intersection of episode with task points to a table cell with date or date range and this results in a very concise presentation of the post schedule.  But how to make this type of presentation interact with a calendar view?  I thought gantt-ing it would work but hit a wall when I got to entering the episode 102 row data.

  • I have the same issue. SmartSheet is great for our projects but not very good for operations.

In my case, we produce analytics reports that go out on monthly or quarterly releases. I would love to have start/end date (or milestones) for the date in which each script has to run and when it is release. Otherwise would be 1000's or rows for us.

Also, +1 from my side. Microsoft Project has the possibility to roll up the gantt bars. This functionality in Smartsheet would make the platform much more attractive. Like previous post, this can also add value for operations.

  • Did it solve?

As I'm waiting for this feature very much?

do you know another platform that have this feature, but should be cloud basis?

  • I would like more than two dates per row too! Unfortunately i can't find this feature either.  When is the update coming out? :)
