Reports sort dropdown columns differently than a regular sheet

I have a sheet with a dropdown column for priority: High, Medium, Low.  My sheet sorts them according to the order specified: High, Medium, Low.  However, my report sorts them alphabetically: High, Low, Medium.  Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Tom - As you have seen, sorting Dropdown lists is different in sheets and reports. In your sheet they are sorted based on the order of your predetermined dropdown values (what you see under Column Properties). While in a report, the Dropdown list is sorted alphabetically. There isn't a way at this time to sort your report based on your predetermined dropdown values.

Add a Hidden column in the Sheet that contains an IF Function to look at the Value in the relevent cell and return either A,B,C or 1,2.3 i.e A or 1 = High, B or 2 = Medium and C or 3 = Low.  Add this column to the Report and sort by it.

Guys, I am frustrated by the same issue. Weird you cannot implement the same logic.

Ilan - there are not any plans to change the functionality to sort a report based on the order of the dropdown list predetermined values (vs alphabetically) but I will add your vote for this enhancement request!

Thank you Travis. In the meantime I changed all my sheets to a 1,2,3 priority config. in order to workaround this limitation.

Not great as UX to do so, but I'm over it.

Travis, I would like to add one more customer vote to make sorting on reports as robust as it is on sheets. I understand the work-around, but it should not be necessary.

Love Smartsheet - please fix this anoying little disfunction. Thanks!

I agree. Just found this out and have to add the number value workaround to several sheets aggregated in a report.

Hi,

I'm having problems sorting my report alphabetically.

It was working fine before but now i cant sort by the names of the assigned to alphabetically and i'm hoping someone can help me with this. 

I've tried creating a new report and i'm getting the same result.
