VLOOKUP is data type of TEXT instead of DATE - sorting is off
I am currently creating an report which looks up dates based on specific milestone tasks over a number of project sheets.
When the vlookup calculation is entered and I hit the Return key, is it giving me an alert that the value is not in date format. Being the admin, I am able to override this. But when sorting, it sorts dates as numbers, not as dates (sorts by the first numeral digit instead of year/ day/ month).
Note:
1. All vlookups are pulling from a column that with a data type of Date (as selected in column options)
2. Destination column in report has a datatype of Date (as selected in column options).
Any help on this would be appreciated.
Todd

Hello,
It sounds like you may be sorting rows with hierarchy. If so, the date in the parent row may be what's causing the dates in the children rows to appear as if the rows aren't being sorted correctly —the children rows will be sorted but kept beneath their parent row.
If needed, more information on sorting can be found in our help article: https://help.smartsheet.com/learning-track/smartsheet-intermediate/sorting-and-filtering
