Stop Auto Formatting
I have a sheet with manually entered rows that are formatted gray to signify a day and if it's AM or PM. Users can then start filling in items below that row. When they enter their data, the sheet is using the auto-format function and also formatting it gray which is causing confusion.
How do I stop smartsheet from applying auto-formatting at all? Using the Clear Formats button is a workaround that I don't want my users to have to mess with.

Are the gray bars manually formatted? You could build something into conditional formatting that will only turn rows meeting specific requirements gray which would leave all other rows unformatted.

Yes, the gray bars are manually formatted. I took your advice as it seems to work like a charm.
Remove all formatting, then conditionally format rows as necessary. In this example: "If Primary Column = Monday AM or Monday PM or Tuesday AM or Tuesday PM, then format Gray"
Thanks!

Happy to help!
If you end up building it out for every day of the week, you can make things a little easier on yourself by using the "contains" requirement and simply putting in the day of the week.
If Primary Column contains Monday or Tuesday or Wednesday.......
It will save a little time setting things up since you will only need to build in 7 conditions instead of 14.
