Can hidden field on web form designate parent-child row status automatically?

Our Smartsheet has a client name column along with a designator column that indicates what type of work we are doing (M, S, or C). We have a web form set up for each (M, S, or C) using the hidden field so that when an "M" form is submitted, conditional formatting tells it to bold and back fill the row.

Is it possible to set a condition (not "formatting") where, if the form is an S or C, that row is automatically changed to a child row? Or is the parent-child relationship an entirely manual process?

The parent-child relationship is a manual process at this time. We are looking to implement automated workflow enhancements and I will pass this suggestion along to the team working on this.

Any update to automating the parent-child via web form? Would be nice to have a field that dictates which parent a new entry via web form goes to.

Are there any updates on this feature request? We are using the Inventory Management template, an have parent rows for things like furniture, equipment, technology. We would like our staff to be able to fill out a web form, and have it automatically added as a child, tied to the correct parent. With hundreds of assets, having to manually move these to the correct spot isn't really feasible.
